Former Argentine player Martin Cardetti says he would choose his former Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Ronaldinho ahead of his Barcelona compatriot Lionel Messi.
Ronaldinho enjoyed successful career periods with Barcelona, ??Brazil, Milan and Paris Saint-Germain. Winning the Golden Ball in 2005, World Cup trophies, the Champions League and La Liga, among many other titles.
Messi, named by many as the best footballer of all time – has managed to break the record by triumphing six times in the race for the Ballon d’Or. While winning ten La Liga titles, four Champions League titles and many others.
But Cardetti, who spent a season playing alongside Ronaldinho in the Paris Saint-Germain squad before the Brazilian moved to Barcelona in 2003, believes Ronaldinho is better than his Argentine compatriot.
“As coach, for my team I would have chosen Ronaldinho at the peak of his career before Messi.” said Cardetti.
“I played with Ronaldinho for a season and he’s just a different player. He’s affected by God.”
“He was always having fun, he was doing things with the ball on his feet that you’ve never seen before. And then he practiced a lot to repeat them during matches.”
“I saw him in training, in matches and he made every move different from the others. Players like him appear very rarely and are remembered in football history. I’m proud to have been a teammate of that kind of player.”
