Inter are in intensive negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.
Sky Sport Italia reports that Inter have long been interested in Cavani, who could be available for free this summer. This is because the contract with PSG ends for the Uruguayan.
The Nerazzurri had planned to transfer Mertens. But now he seems to be close to signing a new contract with Napoli. This has made Antonio Conte’s team turn their attention to Cavani.
Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Newcastle are also reportedly interested in the 32-year-old due to his extensive experience.
He also has experience in Serie A, having played for Palermo and Napoli before transferring to PSG in 2013.
The Uruguayan has contributed seven goals and three assists in 22 games for PSG this season.
