Miroslav Klose returns to Bayern Munich, where he played for four seasons in 2007-2011.
Of course, not as a player, as the 41-year-old has been retired from football for four years, but as an assistant to Hans Flick.
“Miro” will start working for the Bavarians on July 1 and will be valid until July 1, 2021, for one season.
Klose’s signature was not the only news regarding the staff. The contract of 31-year-old Danny Röhl as assistant coach will be extended until June 30, 2023.
Bayern General Manager Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stated:
“We are very happy that Miro has decided to take this step in Bayern’s first team. He has been the most successful German striker of the last 15-20 years. I am convinced that our attackers in particular will benefit from him, being there as a coach. Miro was also Hans Flick’s favorite candidate.”
While Miroslav Klose himself, after signing the contract, said:
“It feels very good, I look forward to the task. I have known Hans Flick since we were on the German national team. We trust each other, both professionally and personally. For me this is the next step in my career as a coach. I hope he can use my experience to make a significant contribution to helping Bayern achieve their sporting goals. ”
