Paris Saint-Germain are reported to have closed the opportunity to buy Mauro Icardi this summer. Who has made it clear to the French club his desire is to return to Italy next season 2020/21.
Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport has revealed that Mauro Icardi’s agent and wife, Wanda Nara, has spoken with Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting director Leonardo, and has informed him of the Argentine’s decision to return to Italy.
The same Italian medium further reports that Paris Saint-Germain has decided, due to that conversation, to terminate its contract with Inter regarding the option to buy the striker at the end of this season.
The French giants have been considering the option of buying Icardi this summer in a deal with Inter, after the Argentine has scored 20 goals in 31 games this season. However, now this plan has been rejected.
Even the future with the Nerazzurri seems unlikely to succeed for the former Inter captain, who left the club after problems with both the club’s hierarchy and fans during the 2018/19 season.
In recent weeks, the 27-year-old has been rumored for a possible move to Juventus, where he had wanted to go during the summer transfer window last summer, but his wish was not fulfilled.
The Argentine is also rumored for a potential transfer to Napoli. Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has revealed that the Argentine is beyond the club’s financial capacity, leaving Icardi with Juventus as his only option in Italy.
